In Vitro Assessment of Emd Based Biomaterial Biocompatibility

چکیده
Tissue engineering is a rapidly developing area that might restore, maintain or improve tissue functions. The major elements of tissue engineering are: integrate cells, scaffolds and biologically active molecules. These components act synergistically to regulate stem cell propagation and differentiation thus ensuring tissue regeneration. For evaluation of biocompatibility of enamel matrix derivative (EMD) based biomaterial, palatal mesenchymal stem (PMSCs) cells at a density of 1x10 cells were co cultured. The level of adherence was daily assessed. The viability of cells was evaluated after 24h, 72h and 7 day using FDA (fluorescein diacetate) assay. Our study revealed that the selected biomaterial are biocompatible and can be used as scaffolds for mesenchymal stem cells delivery especially for periodontal regeneration.

Comparison of the Effect of Hydrophilicity on Biocompatibility and Platelet Adhesion of Two Different Kinds of Biomaterials
Determination of blood compatibility is an important problem in blood contacting devices. In this study, two classes of materials including polyurethane (based on polyethylene glycol and poly tetrametylene oxide) and polyvinyl alcohol samples, with different hydrophilicity properties were synthesized and their physico-chemical properties were compared. Water uptake ratio, FTIR spectroscop...
متن کاملIn Vitro Models in Biocompatibility Assessment for Biomedical-Grade Chitosan Derivatives in Wound Management
One of the ultimate goals of wound healing research is to find effective healing techniques that utilize the regeneration of similar tissues. This involves the modification of various wound dressing biomaterials for proper wound management. The biopolymer chitosan (beta-1,4-D-glucosamine) has natural biocompatibility and biodegradability that render it suitable for wound management. By definiti...
متن کاملIn vitro biocompatibility of low and medium molecular weight chitosan–coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles
Objective(S): The chitosan - Fe3O4 core - shell nanoparticles were synthesized. The nanoparticles should be coated properly in the shape of core-shell, so that they remain hidden from the body's immune system after coating. Effects of different molecular weight in coating were investigated. Methods: Nanoparticles coated with low and ...
متن کاملQuantitative Histopathology for Evaluation of In Vivo Biocompatibility Associated with Biomedical Implants
In the current chapter, digital morphometric analysis (DMA) was used to quantify two markers of biocompatibility around commonly used biomaterials. In the field of biomaterial evaluation for biocompatibility, more sophisticated methods are now being used to precisely characterize the elicited response from the surrounding tissue towards the implanted material. One reason for this is due to the ...
متن کاملFuture challenges in the in vitro and in vivo evaluation of biomaterial biocompatibility.
As the science and engineering of biomaterials continues to expand with increased emphasis on the development of nanomaterials and tissue engineering scaffolds, emphasis also must be placed on appropriate and adequate approaches to the in vivo and in vitro evaluation of biomaterial biocompatibility/biological response evaluation. This article presents six topic areas that should be addressed by...
